The singer has been known to be hard at work with his comics, but he surprised fans by releasing two never before heard tracks this past Record Store Day on what is being referred to as “ The Pink Vinyl.” Now the sweet energetic emo-esque, Brit-Pop ballad, hard rock sounds of Gerard Way and The Hormones are heard once more on this two song release. After touring to promote “Hesitant Alien,” Gerard returned home to his wife, Mindless Self Indulgence bassist, Lindsey (Lyn-Z) Way, whom he married in September of 2007, and their daughter Bandit. Way credits his love of music to acts such as The Smiths, Black Flag, Queen, and Bon Jovi, stating many times that music is an effective outlet for his personal battles. In May of 2014 Gerard launched his website after signing to Warner Brothers Records as a solo artist, releasing his debut album “ Hesitant Alien” in September the same year.

Way is currently working on series three of the Umbrella Academy, while simultaneously writing for the newest volume of the classic comic series “ Doom Patrol” for DC Comics. Way later went on to create a Killjoys comic series in 2009 and even wrote for Marvel’s Spider Man series “ The Edge of Spider-Verse” in 2014 I guess some second chances are worth taking. The series was released under Dark Horse Comics in the same year, with series two being released the following year in 2008.

No stranger to comics, Way began writing and drawing concept art for his original comic series “ The Umbrella Academy” in 2007. Since the end of My Chemical Romance, Gerard Way has been keeping busy with a number of projects. My Chemical Romance performing their album “The Black Parade.” The band released one final song “ Fake Your Death” which appeared on their greatest hits album “ May Death Never Stop You.” My Chemical Romance went on to top the charts and their albums all became certified as gold, platinum or double platinum before disbanding in March of 2014. After their debut, MCR was signed to Reprise Records and followed up “Bullets” with their first major label release “ Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge.” The band released three more studio albums, “ The Black Parade,” “ Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys” and “ Conventional Weapons,” numbers one through five, which were a collection of previously unreleased songs from the Danger Days recordings. With My Chemical Romance formed, the band recorded their debut album “ I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love” and released it under Eyeball Records. Frank Iero was brought in as a second guitarist, just days before the band got in studio, and the lineup was set. Eyeball fronted the money to record an album and Mikey learned his instrument as the recording process went on.

After a few demos, MCR piqued the interest of local indie label Eyeball Records and Gerard’s brother Mikey Way was added as the bands bassist despite not knowing how to play the instrument. Way formed MCR with drummer Matt Pelissier and together they recruited guitarist Ray Toro, due to Gerard’s inability to play the guitar and sing simultaneously. He wrote the song “ Skylines and Turnstiles” about the experience, which eventually became the first song by My Chemical Romance. After witnessing firsthand the September 11 attacks in New York, Gerard was motivated to “Get out of the basement” and form a band. During this time Way battled alcoholism, prescription drug addiction and depression, at the height of which, Way turned down an opportunity to write Spider-man for Marvel. Originally a guitarist, Way played in and out of bands for a time, but due to his lack of skill he eventually decided to focus on his art career.
